I’ve competed all my life, for athletic ribbons and medals, to get into orchestras, achieve high class grades and standardized test scores, earn family respectability, and add accreditation to my resume. It’s all stacked on society’s capitalistic expectation that we don’t stop working and don’t deserve love without respectability. This is called the meritocracy. To heal our minds we must stop comparing each other. To eliminate poverty we must give each other what we deserve. To liberate all people we must give love without discrimination. College degrees are meaningless, winning first place doesn’t make you any better, and pomp and circumstance is truly circumstantial.
